KAIROS offers flexibility and a range of benefits previously lacking in conventional switchers, greatly enhancing COVER Corp's workflow in content distributions within the studio like 3D productions, live streaming, and recordings.

Some of these benefits include:

  • More Flexible I/O (input/output)

  • IP Transmission compatibility via SMPTE ST 2110 standards suite

  • Unlimited/unrestricted MEs (mix effects)

  • Ease of horizontal/vertical aspect ratio content production

  • Efficiency and AI utilization in macros for RAM and CLIP players

COVER Corp. believes KAIROS will become the future standard for virtual production, and they've made sure that they were among the first to adopt it with their installation of the platform in multiple motion-capture studios within the new studio facility.

It’s finally here! COVER Corp.’s newly established studio facility has finally been revealed, even accompanied by pictures showcasing the studio itself. It will support many different hololive production activities, including concerts, recordings, and other content creation production.

Last March, the company hinted at its growth plans in the investor relations document 'Materials for Growth Opportunities and Strategies', aiming to construct a new studio that would improve profitability and enhance the fan experience. The investor relations material can be found here.

Now, a more detailed announcement has been made, providing comprehensive information about the structure, facilities, equipment, and other amenities available in this new studio.

The studio, established somewhere in Tokyo, was built with the company’s mission in mind: “Together, Let’s Create Culture Loved by All.” With a size comparable to more than 10 tennis courts (slightly more than half the size of an American football field), it will be considered one of the largest established studios in Japan.

The total construction cost of the studio sums up to 2.7 billion Yen (about US$20 million), taking about a year and a half to build and set up. That’s 800 million Yen for construction costs, and 1.9 billion Yen for equipment costs.

The studio hosts many different facilities and amenities that will cater to diverse content production needs. These studios include:

Motion Capture Studios

The motion capture studios are equipped with a total of more than 200 VALKYRIE (VK26) VICON cameras, with some studios alone having more than 100 of these cameras. These new cameras will prove useful in motion capture accuracy and much more intricate motions, such as finger movements. Additionally, the studio setup has made it possible to capture calculations with multiple people. These improvements will certainly prove useful in hololive’s eagerness to take on new challenges and further leverage itself in Japan as a 3D powerhouse.

Chromakey Studio

A studio dedicated to chromakey production, it will offer easier arrangement and setup for content creation requiring this kind of special motion capture. If it can be assumed that chromakey production is frequently used, this studio would prove useful in ease of accessibility.

Recording Studios/Booths

These studios are fitted and designed by a company that handles creating studios used both in the music industry and other major corporations. The recording studios were made in response to a request from within the company to integrate an in-house facility for recording.

Previously, recording productions were either conducted on separate floors or even a completely different location entirely. But with the integration of this in-house recording studio, content production can now be done with convenience, within walking distance even, enabling immediate audio recordings for CDs, voice work, and other activities.

Server Room

Not necessarily a studio, yet this room serves as the heart of the studio. This dedicated server room houses the network infrastructure and features installations for heat source equipment and dissapation (in a countermeasure effort against the heat produced by all the tech)

Control Rooms, Waiting Rooms, and Powder Rooms

Furthermore, in an effort to create a hospitable environment free of stress, each of these studios is fully equipped with its own additional rooms including (but not limited to) the following:

  • Waiting Rooms

  • Powder Rooms (1/2 bathrooms)

  • Other facilities aimed at enhancing the well-being and quality of life/content of studio employees and guests

A lot of the equipment and tech that COVER Corp. opted to equip this studio with is quite new and cutting-edge, like camera equipment, capture software, and so on.

As a cutting-edge company itself, it’s no surprise that COVER Corp. embraces the opportunity to incorporate new tech in its operations. They aim to challenge ideas and activities not just with tech, but with all of what the new studio has to offer.
