Watame and Botan ACGHK 2026 hololive Meet Recap

Since the 2024 edition of Hong Kong’s annual Anicom (aka ACGHK) convention, hololive fans have always looked forward to the appearance of at least one hololive talent at the main stage—providing a chance for the city’s fans to meet and see one of their beloved oshis in person.
Past years have featured Momosuzu Nene from hololive JP and the twins FUWAMOCO from hololive EN’s -Advent-, and this year’s ACGHK continued the annual tradition, with a hololive Meet session featuring two hololive JP talents: the ‘ShishiWata’ duo, aka Shishiro Botan and Tsunomaki Watame, as part of Day 4’s schedule at the main stage within Hall 1 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
As in previous years, attendees were explicitly told not to take photos or record videos of the entire hololive Meet session, but even if you weren't there in person, we have provided a recap of the panel below, thanks to our correspondent, Adrian, who attended in person.
Before the Panel
Even though Day 4 of ACGHK fell on a Monday, plenty of hololive fans were out in attendance, with some arriving at Hall 1 ahead of time to get the best possible viewing spots in front of the stage.
Dedicated SSRBs and Watamates turned up in full force with accessories, plushies, and custom happis to show off their ‘oshikatsu’ displays, with one Watamate even giving away free Watame-themed coins as a prelude to the live panel. Cosplayers as Watame and Botan were also observed among the crowd, with some SSRBs also bringing appropriately themed construction hats (as a nod to Botan’s Minecraft ‘construction company’).
But even if their favorite hololive talents weren’t onstage that day, hololive fans still took the chance to showcase their personal oshikatsu collections, with various plushies and accessories for hololive EN, JP, and ID talents also observed within the crowd as attendee numbers swelled and quickly took up the remaining space.
However, a lucky hundred individuals didn’t have to worry about securing a spot. These lucky fans received designated seating up front, and at certain segments of Botan and Watame’s panel, were offered opportunities to directly engage with the talents.
Watame & Botan Panel: Live at ACGHK 2026
The panel began with greetings from both Botan and Watame, who also used the opportunity to show off their Cantonese skills to say ‘Thank you, I love you all!’ and ‘Hello everyone!’ The MCs elaborated on the Hong Kong connection by asking them whether they had visited the city before, or what their existing impressions were, with both talents remarking on the city’s association with kung fu films, its role as one of the key locations in the fourth Michael Bay Transformers film ‘Age of Extinction’, and some of its iconic cuisine.
The first round of audience participation then took place in the form of a trivia game that tested the chosen participants on their knowledge of both Watame and Botan, followed by a ‘batsu’ (punishment) game.
In between each activity, those who were lucky enough to volunteer were also given a chance to ask Botan and Watame one question they had on their minds.
These included ‘what if’ scenarios, like answering “Watame sauce” and “Botan” when asked what they’d bring to a deserted island with one hololive member and three items.
Another fan asked Watame directly if she saw Botan’s younger sister-like personality, responding that she indeed viewed Botan like her younger sister.
When asked if the two could switch bodies for a day, Botan wished to use the opportunity to eat a lot of food (for certain “reasons” after they returned to their original selves), while Watame stated she would be more subtle, keeping her response to ‘making the best out of it’.
One of the interesting questions posed to the duo was where in Hong Kong they would go if they could film an episode of Tsunomaki Watame's "Have a Nice Day" on location. Botan suggested visiting the Quarry Bay district to capture the iconic Parker housing estate (aka ‘Monster Building’), while Watame would visit the Bruce Lee statue at the Tsim Tsa Tsui promenade, with the episode concluding with a nighttime view of the Hong Kong harborside.
The panel concluded with a short karaoke session, with Watame performing ‘Genesis of Aquarion’ by Akino from bless4, Botan singing ‘Connect’ by ClariS (the popular Madoka Magica opening theme), before concluding with a duet of ‘Shishi Wata Cooking’ and a group photo with the entire audience to conclude the year’s hololive Meet session.
After the Show
Following the end of the panel, we gathered a couple of comments from fans attending.
“ACGHK's hololive Meet with Botan and Watame was another great treat for holofans, following last year's with FuwaMoco,” commented GoRyder, one of the fans who attended the panel.
“I feel it was even more of a special occasion for our fans in Hong Kong who attended the live viewings of holoEN's Serendipity concert and Nene's 1st solo live back-to-back, giving them a double dose of Watame and Botan.”
To properly sign off the occasion, some of the holofans who remained at the Convention Centre met up afterwards for a group photo, and recorded a congratulatory message to the two hololive talents to thank them for their participation this year.
